This is a beautiful naturally processed coffee from the Yirgacheffe region of Ethiopia, the home of coffee. Natural process means that the coffee beans are dried when still in the coffee cherry which imparts lots of delicious fruity flavours into the bean.

If you are looking for some interesting flavours or perhaps looking to try something new, natural process coffees are a good place to start as you get lots of red fruitiness without some of the acidity that you can find in some lighter roasted coffees.

About this coffee

This coffee comes from farms owned by Tariku Mengesha in the South of the Yirgacheffe region. Almost all coffee produced in Ethiopia is organic as farmers do not have access to any fertilisers or chemicals and instead use traditional methods to protect their crops and land. Tariku applies natural methods to keep weeds and pests away from his crops and grows pulse crops among the coffee trees to maintain the fertility of the soil. -_- -_- After harvesting, the cherries are soaked in water and any floating, unripe ones, removed. The ripe cherries are then dried on raised beds for 28 days. -_- -_- While coffee is Tariku's primary income which he uses to support his 10 children, he also grows Navy beans and a false banana called 'enset' which is used in all sorts of food including enset bread and enset cheese, a staple food in Southern Ethiopia.

This coffee is a sweet red fruit bomb - the natural process gives this coffee loads of strawberry, cherry, raspberry and red grape. Loads of different flavours in here, give it a try and see what you can taste!
