Decaf coffee can have a slightly bad name but the quality on offer has improved massively over the last few years.

Our Fairtrade Tanzania decaf is roasted to a medium roast level and with loads of dark chocolate, cacao and caramel it makes a great all rounder that will work in any brewing method.

About this coffee

The Ngila Estate is situated in the Karatu District on the slopes of the Ngorongoro crater in the Northern Highlands of Tanzania. The farm has been expanded over the last few years and new irrigation technology and processing equipment has been installed to improve efficiency and help enhance the quality of the coffee. This investment has paid off and coffee from Ngila is widely recognised as some of the best from the Ngorongoro crater area. -_- -_- The coffee is decaffeinated using the CO2 method. This involves soaking the coffee in highly compressed CO2 which extracts the caffeine which is then removed using carbon filters. The CO2 decaffeination method is considered one of the most sustainable as it avoids excessive use of water and does not require chemical solvents to remove the caffeine from the coffee.

Lots of dark chocolate, cacao and caramel. Good body.
